The commitment of GAA players today is immense and Opel are privileged to be in a position to acknowledge the outstanding performances in a ferociously competitive atmosphere that is Gaelic Games.

What makes the GPA Awards special is that they are voted by the players for the players.

Players & Teams of the Year

The Opel Gaelic Teams of the year for Hurling and Football are named in late October / early November; with each player on the team receiving €2,500. View past honorary Teams of the Year.

The Opel Gaelic Players of the year for Hurling and Football are named at the GPA Gala Event in November. Eoin Larkin (Kilkenny) and Seán Cavanagh (Football) won the accolades in 2008 following a vote by the players. Due to their fantastic contribution throughout the GAA season, both players received a brand new Opel Astra worth approximately €25,000.
